Oh my god, melonds. Its faster, loads faster, less bloated, easier to use, higher framerates and just so much easier. DeSmuMe, old, rarely updated, loads slowly, low framerates.

I agree, even if MelonDS was too slow on old computers and I needed to use desmume.
Check out my mod, New Mini SMB!

I still use DeSmuME only for recording and its RAM viewer (NO$GBA Debugger as well does the latter), melonDS otherwise.

DeSmuME doesn't even stand a chance, honestly. Specially cause my computer is not very powerful and it played the NSMB ROM at half the speed. Melon better for that purpose (60fps supremacy). But yeah, DeSmuME has the magnification filters which look great if you have a nice machine

DeSmuME is more of a feature-packed, mainstream emulator. This is why it has filters people may want such as magnification so you can play 3D games at a less.. crummy resolution.
MelonDS however focuses on accuracy and is much lighter. It's really handy if you want to test some ROMhack in an accurate environment, as mainstream emulators tend to dismiss errors that would crash a real DS. Neither of them are my DS emulator of choice though, because I'm used to No$zoomer which is convenient and user-friendly, notably it enables really fast testing and runs well on a potato. All of them have their uses depending on what you wanna do. |

Oh, I may take that choice into consideration, since both DesMume and MelonDS cause a lot of lag in my toaster device _________________________ My YouTube Channel |

thats obvious, its melonds
first up, its faster, unlike desmume desmume makes the game sound like it crashed when opening another (or more) programs melonds just slows down the game for performance issues AND DESMUME, LITTERALY SPLITS THE SCREEN IN HALF WHEN OPENING HOMEBREW APPS!! just use melonds, its faster, better, has more customisation. |

MelonDS by far is superior to Desmume, it's not even close just how much better it is from my experience. I've actually been able to use the emulator properly on MelonDS, even going as far as playing online with frens back in 2022. Also it only lagged in online from my experience.
