Yeah, xKitten has a good point, last year, I put a release date on version 1.5 of my Mario Kart DS rom hack, so that it would release on the one year mark of the first release, and that didn't really give me enough time to finish what I wanted to, and it can be compared to this, except that with this, you are practically shooting yourself in the foot, since you'd have to be working on your hack day and night to finish in the time that you've given yourself.
