Clicking the button to hex edit a level causes the editor to crash in mono.

Yeah, that's because HexBox (the hex editor control) uses the windows DLLs. So, it's not portable
There's not many things we can do to fix that. Either find another control which is fully portable or fix HexBox (it's not easy) |

Couldn't you have an option somewhere to specify an external hex editor to open the file with? And while the file is being edited in said hex editor, monitor it for changes?

Hmm.. It could be done. But you can also export the file and hex edit it.
Also, hex editing levels is a minor thing since you can edit everything with the graphical editor. |
