In a typical Dev Team, you're working with Programmers, Visual Artists, and Designers.
Visual Artists are making the Assets, Programmers are calculating the Code, and Designers are writing the ideas, and plan what the other 2 have to do.

"Code" is very generic, if you want to know what's inside the Code, you won't be happy, especially on a Console or Handheld, where you have to deal with optimising Code.
"Art" is also very generic, you should not forget stuff like Texturing, Rigging, Animation, Modelling, and whatever more an Artist has to do.
Creating a working Prototype can take between days and months, depending on how quickly you get through.

A small game takes about 30.000 lines of Code on average, and a 26 pages long GDD (Game Design Document), which overall isn't much.
I don't know about Art and Sound, I barely do it myself.
What I know is, Art must be minimal, so it's not like you can use a 1.000 Triangle Model per flower on the field in the world.

Now comes the good news: Programming game X is about the same as Programming game Y or game Z, even though game X is a Shooter, game Y is an RPG, and game Z is a Racing game.
I didn't realise it myself before when making my first game, but when I made a third game, I started to see a pattern in Game Programming.

I don't make games because I lack creativity and artistic skill, mostly.

One of my attempts in this domain was lolBuild. Basically, it'd have been similar to Minecraft Classic, but with Lua scriptable blocks so one could do awesome shit. Since I've been unable to write a renderer that didn't run at terrible speeds for anyone who isn't me, the project failed.

Because its point at click, and such there is no gamemaker for any of nintendo platforms

You have to code them yourself, which is the real thing. (GM is limited too, but atleast you can code stuff in there)

Mistaken! There is a DS gamemaker and you CAN code in gamemaker IF you want to make a truely epic game using its programming language known as GML.

I know about the DS game maker, I was talking about the current gen ones
But still, Game Maker doesnt count because the languaje GML isnt accepted by any of nintendo platforms and GM cant export to 3ds or wii U anyway

Yes, but you said why didnt GM count, based on Yami's reply, which was talking with Mr. X about making games on nintendo platforms

But in general, GM does count.

That DS gamemaker is a homebrew thing. And it sucks. There's no way you can do epic stuff with it.

True... And also it can be VERY glitchy, but atleast there is one. But screw DS gamemakers, we're hacking NSMB, which is ALOT better.

There are Game Engines available for Wii U and 3DS, but they're not Game Maker.
There's also an Engine for DS/DSi (BitEngineDS), which is similar to Game Maker.
I do have a License on it, but I haven't used it though (because Intelligent Systems is way to lazy to make their tools available for Windows 8, plus I don't care about that Engine in general).

I have modded a game called Terraria, when I saw what was inside, I WAS surprised, because it was so easily changeable. As for art, all I need is spriteing, and if you think thats too hard for me too, well I have a bunch of stuff in my glitchy flash version, along with 10 different forms of the main characters.

I'm talking about making, not modding.
Modding/Hacking is easier, as soon as the tools are available.
Making remains hard, even with all of the tools available.

Well, they offer different challenges. Nodding and rom hacking are more about reverse engineering and stuff. Creating your own game is easier because you are not limited by anything, but harder because you actually have to make the game yourself. Lol.

I personally like both. It's just different. Rom hacking is fun because you can see the design decisions game authors made, and even learn stuff from it. Game making is fun because you actually get to be creative and make stuff which is cool.
